The Seed Circus is a multi-stage performance/ experiential event and interpretive agricultural exhibit that is part country fair, part circus, part adult education, part child-sport. This is a showcase event for featuring some new inventions that have applicability in two fields: farm functionality and agrarian celebration. A series of educational and celebrational events pertaining to the art and history of farming. Taking place on two coasts, and hopefully somewhere in between, the purpose of the seed circus is to trigger wider understanding of the GRANGE movement, the CHAUTAUQUA movement and the YOUNG FARMERS movement. Through the medium of performance, interactive working stations, lectures, films, etc.
The purpose of the seed circus is to build capacity on farms for celebration. Meaning: to commission artists and crafts people to build the needed infrastructure (hand washing sinks, ticket booths, announcement boards, benches/eating venues, outdoor pavilions, etc.) These 'party legos' can then be useful in everyday farm operation, for farmers market signage etc. They can also be easily transported to central nodes where parties can happen -- this way we have the tools, the relationships are strengthened with artists/craftspeople, and we can more easily gather together and produce events that are satisfying and homegrown.
