HOMEGROWN’s big sibling, Farm Aid, is holding its annual benefit concert in Saratoga Springs on September 21. Tickets sold out in a flash. If you managed to snag seats, congrats! But if you didn’t and wish you could have, or if you're a Saratoga-area resident interested in food and farming issues, there's still a great way to get involved.
In the name of Farm Aid, HOMEGROWN is partnering with Skidmore College to present an advance screening of the film Growing Cities on Thursday, September 19. There are a few reasons why this is cool. For starters, the director, Dan Susman, is a longtime HOMEGROWN member. His fantastic new documentary, on urban farming in America, hits right at the heart of what HOMEGROWN is all about. (Check out the trailer above.) Last but not least, the evening is free and open to the public. Not bad, eh?
The screening takes place in Saratoga Springs, in Skidmore College's Filene Hall. (The address up top is for all of Skidmore; Filene Hall is pinpointed in the Google Map link, also above.) Doors open at 7:30 p.m., the film begins at 8 p.m., and a panel discussion featuring Dan follows. Did we mention there’s free popcorn, courtesy of Vermont-based Yolo! Snacks? We're superexcited to be a part of this event and would love the chance to meet some of you and shake hands in person. Will you come and show Dan some HOMEGROWN solidarity? Although attendance is free, please help us keep a head count by RSVPing.
