Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

Hello everyone! First post here. My wife and I are planning on making our own kefir but are having a difficult time finding local starter grains near the Boston area. We're looking for several tablespoons of fresh milk grains. Can someone please reach out if you have some? We're willing to travel up to 30 miles. Thanks in advance for any help!

Best Regards,
J&L

J&L: I reposted your question in an effort to reach more folks, and HOMEGROWN member David responded: "Greener Acres Farm in Mendon MA may have some. I have never used it myself so I don't know for sure."

And HOMEGROWN member Pirate Jeni responded on Facebook: "I have mailed milk kefir grains from New York all the way to Wisconsin. They mail beautifully. I just shipped out all my extras but if people can wait a few weeks I should have more as they are quite prolific little buggers." piratejeni @ gmail. com (You can also reach her here via HOMEGROWN.)

Hope this helps!
