HOMEGROWN

Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

I created this group to network with other Homegrowner's from Michigan. Northern Ohio and Indiana, you're welcome, too ;)

Obviously I'm Carrie. Got a bunch of blogs and pics on my page here. Besides trying to be a farmer, I'm also an aspiring fine artist!

I'm Alicia, 29, married mom of 3 living in West Michigan. I started gardening last year when we bought our first home and I'm hoping to learn a lot and grow/create some wonderful things!

YAY!!! Another MI gardener :) Myself and my husband are both on here. Currently we are waiting for final word from the USDA so we can get our "farm" up and running. We're moving out towards the Dundee area (hopefully!)
I'm Rebecca, 31 and married and living in Livonia (just outside of Detroit). We garden, can, and are starting to bake all of our bread from scratch. We hope to move to 5-10 acres outside of Ann Arbor one day!
Welcome Rebecca!

Welcome!!! My cousins grew up in Livonia! ;)

If you have any bread pointers let me know, my husband is wanting to try scratch breadmaking ;)
I am Jennifer, I am 41 , Married with 4 kids. We live on 5 acres in McBain/Marion Michigan about 13 miles from Cadillac. We grow alot of our own food but not all. We do all our own small fruit. have some fruit trees. We raise meat chickens and turkey and have laying hens. We also have English Angora rabbits for fiber and we have Holland Lops just because we like them. We just keep slowly adding things and learning as we go

I'm Tina, 59, divorced, grandma to 4 fabulous grandkids, apartment dweller in Waterford (next door to Pontiac).    My profile photo is typewriter keys because I am a writer; I am working on a couple of novels and, in the past, was a monthly columnist for Cruis'News,  a classic car magazine out of Sterling Heights and, when I lived in Wisconsin, I covered the Town of Cross Plains town board and zoning board meetings as a freelance reporter for The Mount Horeb Mail newspaper in Mount Horeb, WI.  I have worked in Corporate America and am currently on a permanent "sabbatical" from my last employer. ;-)    Because I have no place for a garden, I support local farmers by buying as much as I can from the Oakland County Farmers Market on Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford.  I am an avid reader (actually, BEYOND avid; I have 2 or 3 books in the mix at any given time), a book collector (Nancy Drew Mysteries) and am birdmom to a 13-year-old cockatiel named Baby Bird.  My dream/goal is to build my "little cabin in the woods", be as self-sufficient as possible and be a successful novelist so I can donate bunches of money to environmental causes.   I'm happy I found this group.
