This weekend I'm planting mache, shallots, and lots of lettuces.

Our mache looks small, but quite lovely, surviving the winter and snow just fine in the cloche!

We're building an online tour guide for bands on the road...would you add Burgerville to the list? Where else would you send hungry broke musicians for a righteous nosh?

I stumbled on this site while on diggin food. Thanks Willi! This social networking site is way better than facebook. It's great to read about all the awsome things going on all over the country. -Rozzy

AlleyCat Acres has some February events listed that look unmissable!

"January and February are definitely the hardest months for those of us who love to garden... you can step outside and weed a bit on the dry days, but it's too cold to start new plants, and too dark for even the weeds to grow very fast! Once you've sent off the seed order, it's easy to just sit around biting your nails and waiting for spring.

Well, there are a few other things coming up that you could spend time on:

On February 3rd, MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Will Allen will be speaking about urban agriculture at Mercer Middle School. This lecture by one of the country's most prominent urban farmers is a free event.

The following week, join Sustainable Seattle on February 11th for their first annual Environmental Film Festival. In addition to five films, their schedule includes a free shellfish tasting bar! Those of us who are college students are always on the lookout for free food. ;)

Finally, on February 20th from 1-4pm, Community Harvest of Southwest Seattle is holding a seed swap and sale at South Seattle Community College. Seed mini-packets are 75 cents, and there will be a free seed table. "

Hi! Do you have any big plans for the Spring Equinox on Saturday? The weather is supposed to be gorgeous in western WA. Sounds like a perfect day for tearing up more of my lawn for garden beds.

Room for rent in cute little farm house shared one other awesome person. Rent is $550, WD, gas range, big chicken coop, food forest landscaping but also open veggie garden space. Plenty of storage space, bus route right outside the door and two beautiful parks in walking distance. There is a really tight urban farm community in the area. Check out the add and spread the word.
