What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Earth Mama
A bit about me:
I'm a Country Gal, a Yankee by birth (Washington State) and a Southerner by choice. I love the South.... folks sitting out on their porches drinking sweet tea, Church and Fried Chicken on Sundays, the smell of Honeysuckle blooming, the sounds of kids laughing. I love dirt under my nails from digging in the garden, drinking coffee with my Hubby in the early morning while it's still quiet before the world wakes up, and watching the sun rise through the early morning mist. I love to cook and create new recipes. I love to BBQ and often have to wrestle my Hubby to get control of the grill and tongs. I love to camp and there is just nothing better for the soul than to cook breakfast and coffee over the campfire. I love my life and everything in it.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Our "Home" is a 2006 Kenworth... an 18-wheeler. Though we have a home in Texas, we spend about 340 days a year out on the road. So, any recipes I create are generally conceived on the Truck. I have never had Lamb and was very sure I would never try it. The other night, we had Lamb. We were waiting to empty out the next morning and had time to BBQ. My Hubby bought a Lamb Shank. I used Mrs.Dash Original, Lowery's Seasoning, and California Garlic Salt to season it with. We cooked it on the grill to about Med Rare/Medium, had Baked Potatoes, and Southern Seasoned Black Eyed Peas. OMG!!! It was simply scrumptious!

My Homemade, from scratch, so heavy ya need a crane, Lasagna Recipe.

I guess I am a lot like my Grandparents in the fact that I don't know how to make "just a little" of something when I cook. Some foods are worse that others. For example, the picture you see here is homemade, from scratch, Lasagna. There has to be lots of people around to help eat it or the leftovers go into the freezer. I can't cook "just a little". It's not that I can't…

Home Cookin' Recipes....

One of my favorite things to do, besides gardening, is cooking. I love it. I enjoy everything from the planning, the gathering, the preping, the cooking all the way down to the actual eating...lol. My Hubby and I enjoy trying new foods and we both enjoy coming up with our own recipes. We work well together in the kitchen, each of us contributing something to the meal. I am pretty sure that there are other out there that are like us and take great pleasure in cooking. So, I thought that I…

Is It Too Early To Start Chanting...SPRING..SPRING..SPRING!?

I really wanted to do this blog in yellow, but, I was worried about making the folks who took the time to read it go blind. I can't help it...anything I can do to influence the coming of Spring!! Since my last blog, we have gone through a lot of changes in the way we live our life. For those who aren't familiar with us, we were hauling the big Windmill Blades for the towers that are springing up all across the country. We did that for nearly 4 years and the time finally came that we had to…

In Our World Of Change

In our specialized fleet, we run in to a vast spectrum of emotions from the people we meet while hauling these Windmill Blades. We see everything from "The Bird" to the Thumb's Up. The opinions of these incredible machines varies from person to person. The biggest complaint we hear is that the Towers block up the natural beauty.  The…
