What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Earth Mama, Dirt Under My Fingernails City Slicker
Fill in the blank:
I grow with passion and talk to my crops daily sometimes singing.
A bit about me:
I have two boys 11 amd 12 and we have converted the old horse corrals in the back of our house and created a small home farm that we call the Nesting Place because of the swallows that nest there every year under the eves. The barn is now a potting shack and seedling nursery that works tremendously well to harden off my seedlings. I LOVE to garden from organic seeds. My hobby is propagating as many rare and unique vegetables I can I can grow and then deliver it to my neighbors in big baskets as the fruits flourish. We trade a lot in my neighborhood, my apples and tomatoes for my neighbors apricots or another gardens macademia nuts. Last year I had all the kids on my street in my garden planting food they later ate with their families. The sunflowers and pumpkins are always a big hit with the kids.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
I made a wonderful mixed green salad with the Romaine and butter/ red leaf lettuces I have grown in my home farm. I also used the broccoli we grew when it was tender and young and put it in a quiche to serve as the main dish alongside the salad.

My latest DIY project:
just completed painting and putting new ceramic tile in small bathroom. The other project is to plant new bare root roses today across the white picket fence that frame the front lawn and plant the three blackberry vines. My grocer was selling these beautiful avacado tress out front and I think I will go grab one or two of them for a cheap 9 bucks a pop.
