What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Earth Mama, 100% Homegrown
A bit about me:
I'm a folklorist, writer, musician, textile artist, and food lover. I'm the mother of two delightful boys and a wife living in the southern Missouri Ozarks. I'm working to organize food producers and artisans in our county into a co-op, having a great time, and hoping to make great strides to address the not so wonderful side of rural life: poverty, healthcare, broadband, education, and food systems.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
I teach fiddle lessons in exchange for homegrown food items. Last week I had the pleasure of an all-natural porterhouse steak topped with buttered shiitake mushrooms and a good sliced tomato, all from within miles from my house. Larapin!
Currently reading:
American Georgics: Writings on Farming, Culture, and the Land and A Wilder Life
Currently listening to:
New Fleet Foxes, lots of live music at jam sessions, Harrow and the Harvest.
My latest DIY project:
Our co-op just had a swap meet. I made blackberry spice jam, varied bath products, and some of my "Pillars of the Community." I take old record album covers, convert them to iron-ons, and make custom pillows. This batch: Van Morrison, 2 Loretta Lynns, and a George Jones.
