Howdy, Shana! Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content), and I think we could be separated at birth: I’m a reader, a movie buff, an NPR lover, a gardener, traveler, and swimmer, too—and, no kidding, I finished the Hunger Games trilogy just last week. Which makes we think we should swap movie and book suggestions!

Meanwhile, back at HOMEGROWN, since you’re a gardener, I hope you’ll share pictures of your gardening triumphs in our new photo gallery Hey, I Grew That! And you can always find the latest additions to the site at the very top of the homepage, and if you’ve got questions, don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or email me at wehunt@farmaid.org. I’m so glad you found us and hope you feel right at home!

Hi, Shana. Ah, Catcher: still an all-time favorite. Love it. Because I just moved to New England I've been on a 19th-century-lit kick lately: The House of the Seven Gables, In the Country of the Pointed Firs (which I highly, highly recommend), a bunch of weird and under-the-radar Alcott stories. And I just finished Treasure Island!!! (exclamation points included), which was the perfect beach read.

Thanks for the tip about Green Wish. I wasn't familiar with them but am looking forward to reading more. And I hear you re: not having as much time as you'd like for gardening. My recent move meant all kinds of lifestyle changes in all kinds of good ways, but in past years I had about four and a half minutes a day for watering the tomatoes, and that was it. Are you a screenwriter? Sounds intriguing!

Ah! Glad you figured out the thread! I'm dying to see Beasts of the Southern Wild. Have you seen Alamar? I think it may share some themes/visual similarities. Oh! And this Treasure Island!!! is a new one, not the classic (which I'm embarrassed to say I haven't read):

OK, one more: Have you seen Moonrise Kingdom? It's near the top of my list, along with Beasts.
