How to Make, Put Up, and Use Fresh Tomato Pesto

I know, I know, I'm lucky to have a couple of baby tomatoes peeping out from underneath the blossoms on my plants, so this is early--I started this post last fall, making Fresh Tomato Pesto with all of the late season tomatoes I could get from our CSA and the garden.

Eggs, and T-Storms, and Tin Roofs, OH MY!

Saturday, we finished painting the barn (save a little touch up here and there) just in time for a huge Derecho type straight-line wind storm to peel back 2 of the tin roof panels like a sardine can, and bent back the corners of the ledge on the west side.             On Monday, I went into the hive to check on progress and make some adjustments to the comb bars. First Eggs!!! (and more hens...)

We got our first 2 eggs tonight! Since Peckerina, our White Leghorn, is the only white egg layer we have, we assume the smaller egg was laid yesterday, and the larger one today? Overwhelmed By Grass and Weeds...

We've been so busy lately with coop building and other projects around the place, we neglected our garden for a few weeks. It has become over-run with crabgrass and other miscellaneous uselessness. Off grid watering solutions

We love our garden, but one of the major challenges of off-grid living is water. Even though we have multiple springs, creeks and wells; how do we get that water to where we need it?
