It was so nice to be able to picture the beginnings of the food I will be eating this summer, and what farmer Steve is up to as the ground awakens again. I thought I would share it with you, too!
An example of my CSA share - can't wait!!
Hello all!
Well, I have started planting in the greenhouse, so no matter what the calendar…
ContinueThis less-than-wintry winter we’re having here in New England has got me thinking about how to fake winter – at least the indoors part – with warming, savory foods. Part of the fun of winter is holing up inside, keeping cozy, and cooking a pot of something good. Casseroles are something good. Retro in style, usually creamy and easily portable (if one chose to leave…

I chose to combine thyme, rosemary and sage for a handy store of herb butter to smear on a whole chicken for roasting. Come January, February and March, won't it be nice to revisit summer…

I've been a little behind on cooking all of the veggies that come in my weekly CSA share, but last night I managed to get the massive zucchini and green pepper haul under control! I called up my mom and asked her for her dear friend Ingrid's delicious zucchini soup. Ingrid passed away a few years ago, and I still remember her - still strongly fighting the cancer that ultimately took her - dropping off freshly dug potatoes and a container of this soup with ingredients from her…
ContinueI've been traveling in England for the last two weeks, and that means that I've had my fare share of Cotswold cheeses, cured meats and fish n chips. The minute the plane touched down on home soil, I knew it was time for some fresh veggies! Good thing my neighbor dropped off our Parker Farm CSA share last night:
1 bunch golden beets, 1 bunch carrots, 1 bunch kale, 2 zucchini, 3 cucumbers, 2 pounds new potatoes, 1/2 pound roma beans and 1 bunch red spring onions.
Heat wave be…

I just made one of these for our office holiday swap. All my wreaths bring the birdies to the yard! Ahem...yeah.
It was simple - though a bit messy. This recipe makes three wreaths.
You will need:
8 cups of mixed bird seed
6 envelopes of clear gelatin (1.5 boxes)
1 cup cold water
2 cups boiling water
corrugated…
