Living off the land is hard work even if you grew up on a farm. Even though the work is hard, the rewards of providing for you family by your own hand makes everything very much worth the effort. As I mentioned in my previous post, this blog is set up to record our personal process of changing our lifestyle to live off-the-grid. Not only can you see our progress, you will also be able to learn step by step how to change your own lifestyle and turn your home into a working homestead. Our plan is to pay it forward during our journey and help others to grow and sustain themselves and their families.
What is homesteading you ask? Well, basically homesteading to me means a lifestyle that promotes self-sufficiency and self-sustainability. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to live completely off-grid and you don’t have to produce all your own food in order to have a homestead. We at Stinnett Farm want to show you how even apartment dwellers can grow their own vegetables and things and classify themselves as homesteaders.
We encourage those truly interested in living a more self-sufficient lifestyle to follow us on our journey through the use of this blog. We also welcome any current homesteaders to offer guest posts about your own journeys or projects that might help us “newbies” in beginning our journey into the world of homesteading. Please check back often in the months to come, we have lots and lots of information coming your way.
