Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

On both sides, my wife has a family history of breast cancer. Last winter my wife discovered that she too had breast cancer and made the difficult decision to have a prophylactic double mastectomy. Immediately after her mastectomy she underwent reconstructive diep flap surgery. It looks like the cancer is gone and she has recovered her former shape and feels whole again. She is a survivor and I'm proud to have helped her through her journey with breast cancer. But I'm left wondering if maybe breast cancer isn't a really a genetic condition. I'm concerned about the toxins big-agro has been dumping into the environment and ourselves for at least half a century. It's why my wife and I have started our own organic "victory" garden - both to celebrate her victory over breast cancer and also to avoid the pesticides and inorganic fertilizers that we suspect may have contributed to her cancer.
