Celebrate the culture of agriculture & share skills (Growing! Cooking! Eating!)

It is starting to remind me of Christmas: "Oh the weather outside is frightful," . I have a basement full of Peas and egplant that were supposed to be in the green house, but it has been to whacky of weather to risk moving them yet. Last year at this time they were in the garden and growing fiercely, this year I am hoping to save half of them.  I went out into the woods and found a total of 4 Morrel Mushrooms (Yum!) last Monday, but with floods and now SNOW, I doubt that I shall find more. Sadly, I have allready fried and eat these two pair of fungi, and now have little hope until next years batch.

Glad you were able to find a couple of morel before the snow reclaimed them! Did you pan-fry with a little butter (or oil?) and salt and pepper?

Fried them in butter with little dash of dried garlic and a spot of black pepper. Served them up for the wife and I with some farm raised eggs. I just wish there were a lot more, because I could stand a couple of stuffed omlets!  I wish I could find more, but it is supposed to snow again tonight.

I, too, could stand a couple of stuffed omelets. Thanks for sharing your recipe—for future years' use, if not this year. Snow, be gone!

Here is a copy of the original post from last year talking about the same subject : "Farmers cheese omlet with local grown pork bacon on the side, omlet is stuffed with Morrel Mushrooms, Sauted Green Onions, Red and Yellow Sweet Peppers, seasoned with minced garlic and fresh lemon basil"... YUM! It was most excellent, and looking at my snow covered yard I can't stand the idea it might be a whole year until I can do it again.
