Ken Druse guest blogs over at Garden Rant about what every gardener should know about peat moss -what it is, first of all, and that "it is environmentally bankrupt".
Comparisons between coir and peat moss are inherently unfair. The hidden underlying reality is that wetlands have been cleared and agriculturalised to become the coconut plantations that produce the coir. While peat moss is not the be all and end all of soil amendments, it is not as bad a practice as Mr. Druse is suggesting.
