What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Dirt Under My Fingernails City Slicker
A bit about me:
Small business owner (aromatherapy mfg. and sales), Vespa rider, DIY home project girl. Soon to have backyard chickens......
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Homemade pizza.
Currently reading:
I wish.
Currently listening to:
NPR. Milwaukee Radio (88Nine). Not country western.
My latest DIY project:
Installed 2 livestock water troughs as raised beds. Renovating upper and lower front porches on my 100 year old duplex, planning an interesting wall structure for my attic billiard and ping-pong lounge.
How did you find HOMEGROWN.org?
Can't remember.
Web site I recommend:

I own a small vegan aromatherapy company.   I use only essential oils and other botanicals to scent all of my products.  If your skin feels dry or upset, or you are tired of all the phoney fragrances out there, it may be a good time to visit my website!

Hi, Anita Hero. (Ha. Love it!) Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here: site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content. I’m so glad you found us, and I can’t wait to hear more about your impending chickens! I hope you’ll turn up plenty of projects and ideas here to spur you on, and I hope you’ll be game for sharing some of your own, too—ESPECIALLY more about those troughs-turned-raised-beds—in our member blog, The Stew. (Unfortunately, we ask folks not to solicit sales here on HOMEGROWN, but pretty much anything else is fair game.) Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!

Hi, Anita,

So glad you found HOMEGROWN! We're lucky to have you! And my, goodness, what an awesome name. (And I should know: My last name is Wehunt, and if I ever get around to officially adding my married name, it will be Wehunt Wolff. No kidding.) And you're in Milwaukee! One of my favorite cities! I just moved away from Chicago a year ago after living there for more than a decade, and Milwaukee was a regular haunt. Mmm, Honeypie!

So, a question: Before you post a blog on turning those livestock tanks into beds, would you consider writing a HOMEGROWN 101 on how you did it? The 101s, which are basically step-by-step how-tos, are a little more templated than a usual blog post, but it's all pretty straightforward. And because another HOMEGROWN member *just* asked me about this very project, I know for a fact other folks would be very interested and curious to read about your process!

Let me know if I can twist your arm, and I can send you the details.

Fingers crossed!

Hiya, Anita: Apologies for the delay in responding. Somehow that one extra day in the Memorial Day weekend threw me off my game! Oh, lordy, yes: You must eat at Honeypie ASAP. Portions aren't small and calling the food healthy would be a bit of a stretch, but it's mostly sourced very, very locally, and I've never been to another restaurant that I wanted to simply move into and live in as much as that one.

As for the 101, yep, I would give it a *very* light edit. If you have a moment, maybe check out the How to Write a 101 101 and let me know what you think. (Don't be intimidated by the length of the How to 101! I tried to include every detail I could think of, just to make it comprehensive.)

Fingers crossed you'll be game!
