I discovered soap making in 2006 and have been hooked ever since. After many years, I finally took the plunge and started selling my cold processed soaps, which are made in my small New York City apartment. I am currently a soap vendor in a weekly farmers market.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Savory cake with pistachios, prunes and feta cheese. The eggs and the feta cheese were purchased from fellow market vendors. I used to think that purchasing organic from a conventional supermarket was the same or better than buying local, boy was I wrong! I have made this quite a few times in the past, but it was only two weeks ago that I incorporated these delicious local organic ingredients. Makes a world of a difference.

Hi, Christy. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I’m the flock tender here: site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content. I’m so glad you found us! I hope you’ll turn up plenty of projects and ideas here to spur you on, and I hope you’ll be game for sharing some of your own, too—maybe you’ll have some soap tips to add to this 101—in our member blog, The Stew. And since you mention that you’re reading about container gardening, you might want to give this 101 a gander.
I’m also asking everybody, new members and old, to take a few minutes and fill out a survey on HOMEGROWN. By doing so, you’ll help make the site better and our community stronger—and you might even score free stuff.
Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you ever need help finding your way around, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
