What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
100% Homegrown
A bit about me:
I'm a firm believer in the value of good old fashioned animal husbandry -- it's good for the creatures, good for us and good for the land. My best vacation days are those that leave me on my 120 acre Osage County Kansas farm, walking, listening, smelling, thinking and doing. A day without chores is like a day without supper. I adore old International Harvester (binder) pickup trucks. I like to eat what I grow and grow what I eat. I've written a few books on agricultural machinery, plenty of articles on everything from anther smuts to electric riding mowers. I spend my days editing GRIT Magazine and looking after nice herds of Mulefoot hogs and Highland cattle, and flocks of chickens and Katahdin sheep. I really enjoy spending quality time in the kitchen with Karen Keb.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
Smoked Mulefoot spareribs -- dry rub, Memphis style and Asian-style garlicky Mulefoot pork chops grilled slow.
Currently reading:
Currently Reading: Chasing the White Dog: An Amateur Outlaw's Adventures in Moonshine
My latest DIY project:
Tilled up part of the acre-sized chicken pen, fenced it off and planted corn corn, squash and melons in the lovely soil.

Hi Hank - welcome to HOMEGROWN! We love to see coop-de-villes, portable coops and anything having to do with chickens - do you have any pictures you'd want to share?
Thanks so much for joining the site.

Hi Hank - by all means link to your blog! You can also feed your content onto your page using RSS (If I'm speaking Greek to you right now, let me know, I can help). Or you can just copy and paste an excerpt from Grit blogs into a member blog post. We want to create a place where you can share what you do - any way that works. Let me know if I can help out in any way and welcome again!
