What kind of HOMEGROWN are you?
Fill in the Blank
Fill in the blank:
100% farmer
A bit about me:
I took up farming 20 years ago after becoming thoroughly disgusted with my previous life. It didn't start out to be a full time occupation but eventually just sort of took over. I grow apples of many varieties and also grow garlic and some other crops to a lesser degree.
The orchard has evolved to u-pick although I still sell at a few Puget Sound area farmers markets.
Latest greatest meal cooked at home:
I may be a land locked, confirmed farmer now but I was raised on the ocean and and am never too far from it.
As I speak I am fixing butterclams steamed with my Rocambole garlic and some chives I dried. I managed to find some Ling Cod which I'll be deep frying in a homemade tempura mix, can't wait!
Currently reading:
Sorry, not much time for reading, yet.
Currently listening to:
I'll listen to just about anything.
My latest DIY project:
My experience as a small scale farmer has been that all projects are DIY but one major one for this year is the planting of the first trees in the certified organic block for hard cider varieties.
How did you find HOMEGROWN.org?

Hi, Leslie. Welcome to HOMEGROWN! My name is Jennifer, and I'm the flock tender here (site updater and tweaker, feeder and waterer of content). I’m so glad you found us—although I am drooling over the description of your clam/cod extravaganza. Yum. Is it dinnertime yet? I hope you’ll find plenty of projects and ideas on HOMEGROWN that will be useful, and I hope you’ll be game for sharing some of your own, too, in our member blog, The Stew. I, for one, would love to hear more about the process of planting your first certified organic block. (Nudge, nudge.) How long will it take those trees to produce mature fruit?

Elsewhere on HOMEGROWN, you can always find the latest additions to the site at the top of the homepage, and if you’ve ever got questions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on my profile page or shoot me a message. I hope you feel right at home!
